Year 3 meet Dr Rock

Yesterday, Year 3 had a zoom call with geologist, Dr Rock, who is based in Austria.

Dr Rock talked about the many interesting parts of being a geologist, as well as showing us the equipment he and his team use when digging from oil rigs. Dr Rock also talked to us about his impressive fossil collection (some of which we were lucky enough to have in our classrooms – including fossil wood which dates back prior to the Stone Age!). He also spoke about  different types of rocks he’s studied over the years and across the globe. The children asked lots of intelligent questions, further deepening their understanding of our current science topic: rocks, soil and fossils.
