Isle of Wight 2022

Wow, what a fun-filled adventure it has been so far and it's only day 1!

After an early start, we got down to the ferry port in good time for a successful crossing that was enjoyed by all. We left in the rain and arrrived in glorious sunshine. The children were excited to see their rooms and make their beds.  Although some struggled, most rose to the challenge and we got there in the end.  We walked around the extensive grounds and played games.

After a delicious dinner we travelled to Sandown Beach where the children and some staff (guess which ones?) took part in water activities.

After a warm shower they all went to bed looking forward to the next day's adventure.

Another brilliant day on the Isle of Wight, although the sun was late to make an appearance we still made the most of our day. After a wholesome breakfast, we headed off to Robin Hill Country Park where we enjoyed the 4D cinema experience, squirrel run and pirate ship ride.  Although we had to brave the elements, it didn't dampen our spirits.

Next up, we headed to Osborne House and the children enjoyed seeing the rooms and artefacts that they learnt about in school. We then followed in Victoria and Albert's footsteps, visiting the Swiss Cottage and their private beach. Finally the sun made an appearance!

To finish off the evening we were entertained by local historian with his comedic take on the Isle of Wight's history.

Quote of the day

'How was Obsborne House?'

'Too good, I've taken all my photos.'

Day 3 and we're still going strong! We had a slight change of plan due to windy conditions but still had a jam-packed day. The day began with a fascinating fossil talk followed by a stroll along the beach to see if we could try our luck finding our own. After some success, we got back on the coach and headed for Alum Bay where we did some souvenir shopping, learnt about the art of sweet making and enjoyed a glass blowing demonstration.  Our highlight was eating the sweets that we watched being made. We're now off to the theatre to enjoy a musical extravaganza.

Our last day has been one to remember! First stop, we headed off to Carisbrooke Castle where we enjoyed a walk around the grounds and even met a few donkeys. After a quick biscuit break, we made our way to Blackgang Chine where we enjoyed a picnic lunch overlooking the sea before adverturing around the park. The highlight was watching everyone take on Water Force, even the teachers had a race! Finishing off the holiday with a bang, we enjoyed lots of dancing at our party night.
