Feedback & Marking

Effective Marking and Feedback Policy

Research shows us that feedback, when used effectively, is one of the most powerful influences on learning and progress. In essence, feedback should provide the learner with information on where they are going (goal), how they are doing (current progress towards goal) and what they should do next (to improve progress towards goal or to challenge further).

Effective marking and feedback is integral to good teaching and learning. Providing timely intervention and empowering pupils to take an active role in understanding how they can make progress serves to embed learning swiftly and enables accelerated learning. Marking and feedback should always take account of the impact that it will have on moving pupils forward.
