New Crossing Patrol

Dear Parents/Carers,

I'm am pleased to inform you that the crossing patrol post for Rectory Road has now been filled.

Please see the below email.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Moore

Dear Hadleigh Infant and Junior Schools

Following a successful recruitment campaign I am pleased to advise that Mrs Danae Estall has been appointed to the school crossing position for Rectory Road, Hadleigh

Danae has previous experience of being a crossing patrol for SBC/APCOA and therefore we are hopeful that her induction and on-site training can be completed fairly quickly and that she will be independently manning the crossing before the end of the school term. The site (outside/opposite the barbers shop near Choice) will be covered for 45 minutes per session
each morning and afternoon during school term times Mon- Fri from 08:00 am until 09:00 am and from 15:00 pm until 15:45 pm.

As this site has not been staffed for some time we will use a mobile patrol from Thursday 12th July 2018 to help promote safe use of the crossing until Danae is fully trained and able to operate independently. After that we will regularly review Danae’s progress with regular supervisory visits throughout the probationary period but if you have any feedback or comments do let me know.

Patrols are not permitted to take leave during school term times but occasionally illness or urgent matters may prevent them from attending a session. In these circumstances we will endeavour to inform you by telephone before the session starts (if it is the same day) or by email (if advance notice is possible) so that you can inform your parents and carers accordingly and allow arrangements to be made for any unaccompanied children.

Please remind your parents that is their responsibility to ensure the safety of their children when crossing to and from the school and to follow these safety instructions on the crossing:-

· Please keep children close by and hold on to any small children when approaching the crossing

· Wait at the kerbside for the patrol officer to get in safely into position in the road and only cross when instructed to do so

· Remain at the kerbside if the patrol officer is returning to the kerb

· Walk (don’t run) across the road sensibly when instructed to do so by the patrol

· Refrain from using mobiles or headphones when using the crossing

· Keep alert and aware of traffic at all times whilst on the crossing

· All persons using cycles and scooters must dismount at the kerbside and walk across the crossing

I will ask Danae to come into the school at the end of one of the sessions in the first week to introduce herself and make arrangements with you for receipt of any relevant information re school inset dates, etc.

If you need to contact me urgently about the patrol/crossing and are unable to reach me on my numbers below you can call the SCP Management Team on 03330 139788 or email school.crossingpatrol@essex.gov.uk – this is a team inbox checked daily for urgent messages – and one of us will get back to you as soon as possible.

I hope you will welcome Danae to your school community.

Kind regards,

Gill
