Netball Team 2015-2016

On Tuesday 26th April, the mixed netball team took part in a tournament held at The Deanes, involving eighteen local schools. The matches were short and very fast paced, in difficult and rather wintery conditions! After a fantastic afternoon, we had won four and drawn one of our group matches which was enough to achieve third place in our group, just missing out on the semi-finals. The whole team played exceptionally well and should be very proud of their performance so well done  Anisha, Rana,  Poppy, Olivia, Shona, Alyssa, Alvin and Ben.

Hadleigh v Kents Hill 14-1
Girls Finish 2nd in Benfleet Netball League

The match started with a Hadleigh centre and from the off the game was very counter attacking and end to end, but with no end product. However, Hadleigh were able to score two goals in the first quarter, with lovely team work between Shona and Poppy. After a rally talk and a wind of motivation from Ms Steel the girls came out flying in the second quarter increasing the score to 7-0 by the end of the quarter with good moves from all the girls. Olivia commanded the centre expertly.

Come the third and fourth quarters Hadleigh were in full control of the game. Sydney Bright showed some excellent shooting and team work throughout this quarter adding further to their commanding score line, with the game ending 14-1 to Hadleigh.

For the last game of the season the girls played their socks off. Alyssa you can be proud of yourself still playing with no fear like you did in your year 4 days just adding that composure to your game is a major trait. Shona once you get your mind into the game you are unstoppable. Poppy you always show leadership and are a positive leader and role model for all the squad. Olivia, being the heartbeat and core in the centre, always being available in the right place at the right time. Rana always proving options, showing great position and off the ball movement when not in position. Sydney since the start of the season has really improved focus brilliantly this game and was a breath of fresh air to watch.

Hadleigh Juniors 14 v 1 Robert Drake

On Thursday 14th March our netball team played Robert Drake. In what was spectacular performance, the girls ran hard, marked effectively and were extremely accurate in their shooting so by the final whistle ran out 14 – 1 winners. All the girls played extremely well, but a special mention goes to Poppy Williams, team captain, for her supportive encouragement to all her team mates throughout the match. Well done girls!

Thundersley 10 v 8 Hadleigh Juniors

On Wednesday the school netball team played a very close match against Thundersley. A very even, well fought game was played and despite controlling the match for the first three quarters, the girls sadly fell behind in the last couple of minutes to bring a final score of 10-8. It was an excellent performance by the whole team and the sportsmanship displayed throughout was of the highest quality. Well done girls.

Well done to our netball team who beat Canewdon 9v4 in chilly conditions at home on Wednesday. Thank you to the parents/carers and staff who supported the girls. I look forward to the next match.
