Boys’ Football Team– Southend United Community Games

On Tuesday 17th May the boys’ football team took part in the Southend United Community Games - an interschool tournament held on the pitch at Roots Hall Stadium! After a rousing opening ceremony the boys played four group games in order to progress to the finals. They played exceptionally well with some fine goals scored; the pick of them from Ben, who managed to tuck away a shot from a very tight angle and coming off two posts! Two draws, a win and loss were not quite enough to progress but as always the boys played well and fairly and were a credit to the school. Well done. Thank you to Mr Brierley and Mr Davies for organising the team for this event

Kents Hill 3 Hadleigh Junior School 2

On Wednesday 13th April the boys football team played at Kents Hill. Our team opened the scoring within ten minutes with Farrell scoring a great goal from a long ball from Ben. After promising attacking play from Hadleigh and strong midfield tackling, we managed to free Alvin on the left to score our second from another great ball from Ben Davis.

Shortly after,  Kents Hill scored from a corner making the score 2 - 1 at half time.

Kents Hill came out very strongly, leaving our boys pinned in our own penalty box for nearly the whole half. Everyone put their body on the line making tackles but Man of the Match Olly Cutts had the game of his life, making numerous reflex saves. However, unfortunately Kents Hill managed to scramble the ball in and just before the end, scored a third, with a smashing top range goal from 20 yards.

Final score: Kents Hill 3 Hadleigh 2

Mr Davies

Hadleigh Junior School v Jotmans  2 - 1

Monday 21st March saw the boys football team take on Jotmans. After a couple of good chances, Farrell stabbed the ball over the line to put Hadleigh one nil up. Five minutes later, Jotmans equalised with a slick passing move to make it one all as the half time whistle blew. A winner came about ten minutes from the end in the form of an awesome strike from Alvin, who hit a curling shot round the keeper, off the post and in. After that, Jotmans laid siege to the Hadleigh goal. A series of fine saves from Ollie and last ditch tackles kept us in front, with James everywhere, challenging strongly. Well done boys, a determined victory. #

Final score: Hadleigh 2 v 1 Jotmans

Hadleigh Junior School v South Benfleet  0 - 3

All be a 0 - 3 loss for the boys, i think all the boys played really well. The 3 goals were very much down to the awful condition of the pitch, however well played to South Benfleet.

I would like to take this moment to thank all the Parents/Carers and Staff for their support.
